The legendary St. Petersburg-based NOM is coming with its signature dramatic-absurdist show.
Music, theater, absurdity, satire, and that very special world of NOM—one that’s hard to confuse with anything else. The program features songs that have stood the test of time, their biggest hits, and, of course, new material.
NOM emerged on the Leningrad rock scene back in the late ’80s and, from the very beginning, existed somewhat in a world of its own. While everyone around them was trying to be serious rock heroes, NOM chose a different path: “the ‘idiotization’ of life’s dramatic aspects and the ‘dramatization’ of its idiotic aspects.”
From garage rock to electronic music and almost comic opera, from Kozma Prutkov and OBERIU to their own unique brand of absurdity. And all this with NOM’s unwavering ability to laugh at the reality around them, especially when that reality itself begins to resemble the theater of the absurd.
Artemy Troitsky once called NOM “the last bastion of ruthless satire.” Years have passed, and the phrase seems only more relevant today.
NOM. A dramatic-idiotic show.
All the hits. New songs. And no guarantee that what happens on stage will be any less strange than what happens off stage.
