This ancient instrument is shrouded in dozens of legends, and its unusual timbre transports the listener into the world of Irish legends. The music of the Celtic harp shares many similarities with the traditional melodies of the Baltic countries, where plucked instruments existed as early as the early Middle Ages: the Lithuanian kancla, the Latvian kokle, and the Estonian kannel—their rich, resonant sound is reminiscent of the harp tradition.
